About Me

My name is Julia, and I’m a 3rd year computer science student with a minor in education at UVic. I was born in Brazil and moved to Canada in 2018. I grew up speaking Portuguese, but at this point I’m actually more comfortable speaking English.

I’m planning to graduate in 2028, mostly because I have been taking my time with my degree. Right now, I’m taking a semester off to live and work in Auckland, New Zealand. My most recent professional role was last semester at BC Hydro, where I worked as a VBA developer.

Outside of school and work, I love climbing! I have been bouldering for about 2 years and recently started getting into top rope, and hopefully lead climbing soon. I also enjoy cooking and trying new recipes.

I have taken EDCI 335 in a previous semester, which gave me a solid understanding of different teaching methods and the importance of accessible learning, especially in online environments. I’m excited to learn even more in EDCI 338 and to get to know all of you!
